The following is a proposed amendment to the Bylaws of the Lead Safe America Foundation. Proposed changes are in purple.

RE: Board Member Term-Length
Section 2. Board Members Number, Election and Term of Office.
- The Board of Directors shall consist no less than seven (7), and no more than sixteen (16) members.
- Directors need not be residents of the State of Oregon, although an effort will be made to have at least 6 Board Members in the Pacific Northwest who can attend meetings in person.
- Election to the Board of Directors shall be by majority vote of the members, of the current Board of Directors, which shall occur, except in the case of filling vacancies, at each annual meeting thereof.
- Each Director shall hold office for a term of three years and thereafter until his successor is elected and qualified. A second term of three years is permissible if re-elected. During these three years engagement will be as follows:
“Newcomer Status” – allowing time for familiarization of organization’s structure and participatory role.
Engaging in active role by assuming duties and tasks.
Assuming officer position or committee leadership with term renewal by re-election or stepping down by proposing successor(s).
