As you may already know, the California Condor is coming back from near extinction due to lead poisoning. The Condors are scavengers and often eat gutpiles left in the forest by hunters. The gutpiles are full of shards of lead-shot and lead to early death of the birds. Reduction of lead-shot in some areas (and elimination of lead-shot in others) is helping these great birds to return from the brink of extinction.
