Urban Mama Podcast: Lead in PPS Schools

I am sharing this podcast under “Family Stories” as it covers my family story and challenges I am having finding a lead-safe school for my son, Avi – who was lead poisoned when he was 7 months old.

This is a podcast from Early February 2015 and the link is to the Urban Mama page that hosts post a transcript of the podcast and a link to the podcast.

It is conversation between me and two other mamas here in Portland, Oregon – talking about issues and concerns that are important to us when it comes to our children.

If you have time I do recommend listening to the actual full podcast – which is a lot more entertaining than reading the transcript 🙂 and also includes some things not included in the transcript.  If you are not a PDX Urban Mama fan and follower and want to skip to “the meat of the conversation”  that starts at about 7 minutes into the recording.

Thank you for taking the time to read and listen to this – and to learn more about this very important and very serious issue.

It was as a result of this conversation that we started the following petition to ask for the City of Portland’s engagement in getting the lead hazards in Portland Public Schools cleaned up.  As of the time of posting this blog post the petition already has 1,473 signatures.  Thank you.
