This is being posted April 4, 2015 and is a bit of a delayed announcement (understatement of the year!) With our rapid growth over the last 12 months we are just getting caught up on some of these things!
In July of 2014, Yetzia Aponte was unanimously voted on to the Board of Directors of the Lead Safe America Foundation. She’s been a spectacular addition to our team and very helpful in the office with volunteer time since then. She has brought with her very positive energy and enthusiasm for helping families.
Here is her brief bio:
Yetzia has a masters of public health in environmental and occupational health sciences. Her interest with the hazards of lead contamination and the ramifications of early exposure sparked the basis of her graduate thesis where she sought a potential sustainable and accessible alternative to soil-lead remediation. She is from New York and is a local board member having moved to Portland, OR in 2013. She has recently completed a professional internship with Portland Parks and Recreations working with the Produce for People program, a hunger-relief program connecting Portland community garden members with their local food pantries. Yetzia strives for environmental justice and loves helping families be healthy. She can regularly be found helping out in the Lead Safe America Foundation office. When not there, she enjoys exploring Oregon (and beyond), gardening, reading, and binging on Netflix.
